Saginaw County residents and Michiganians have a high home ownership rate compared to the rest of the nation. "We grew out instead of up in Michigan," said Kurt Metzger, director of research for the Center for Urban Studies in CULMA. "We've always been a state of single-family homes where the cost of housing was relatively cheap because there was a lot of it."
